ibs (irritable bowel syndrome) and gluten intolerance

Why are SO many people misdiagnosed with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) when what they have is a gluten intolerance? Well, nothing says it like a visual:

irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most mis-diagnosed diseases – meanwhile a gluten free diet often relieves all symptoms

…gosh, I wonder WHY it’s mis-diagnosed so much?!!?!

Of course the secondary problem is flaws in testing for Celiac / Coeliac Disease. …though it’s very critical to note that you do not necessarily need to have Celiac / Coeliac Disease to be reacting negatively to gluten and experiencing the same symptoms.

At the end of the day our food supply is too tainted and our society is too flooded with diseases to rely just on symptoms. There are dozens of symptoms that “overlap” between Celiac / Coeliac, diabetes, IBS, Hashimoto’s, Crohn’s…  that’s the bad news.

The good news: you can be informed when you see your doctor for testing. Don’t just cross your fingers expecting God-like brilliance from them. They’re human too and just as flooded with bad information as you are.

Welcome to the “side effects” of the “convenient” food era.

Jaqui Karr, csn, cvd  …and that concludes the very “sexy” part of this blog ;)
